Explanation As Books Warrior Police: Rolling with America's Military Police in the World's Trouble Spots
For the first time ever, an explosive inside look at modern military police units and their role in defending our freedom
America has been at war on several fronts since the 9/11 attack. While public attention has focused on Marines, conventional Army units, and Special Operations Forces, a lion’s share of the war-fighting has been done, under media radar, by Military Police units. These squad and platoon-sized units patrol dangerous urban streets, build up local police units to improve neighborhood stability, and conduct civic action missions. On many occasions they have rushed into a vicious firefight to come to the assistance of infantry units in desperate straits. They keep villages Taliban-free, monitor balloting sites, and interdict drug shipments. In detention centers at Camp Bucha, Iraq, Bagram, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo, Cuba they guard some of the most dangerous terrorists in history.
The story is told by the soldiers themselves, recounting what they have seen and experienced, along with historical context and first-hand field observations by the author team who were provided with unique inside access. Warrior Police takes readers into the bloody streets of Iraq, the dangerous back-country of Afghanistan, and wherever our Military Police are needed.

I picked up this book because I'm currently writing a character who was Army MP and I learned so much. Anyone curious about what really happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, at least for some MP units, must read this book. Fascinating.I thought this was a well done book shedding the light on a little known Regiment of the Army. MP were my first choice in the 1980's but to short back then (rules changed now) so did MI. My first and only MP were the Saigon Commando's series. This book is about true life hero's and as the author's state "warriors". On battlefields with no front and rear these men and women fought just as hard as any infantry. I found the stories engrossing and at times had to put the book down and give my brain
Warrior Police shows a different view of the wars the U.S. has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are too often informed of the negative narrative with American troops. This book details the good work the MPs are doing. This book should be read to show a side of the war the news media hides.

Warrior Police by Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Gordon Cucullu and Chris Fontana, published by St. Martins Press.Category Middle East History/Afghanistan WarWhen I was in the service one perceived the MPs (Military Police) as those who guarded the entrance to military bases, handled traffic control, and manned the military prisons. Warrior Police quickly puts that perception to sleep when the authors give a true account of the duties of the Military Police. When deployed to Afghanistan, or anywhere
My friend is currently serving in Afghanistan and recommended a few books to have an understanding of what its really like (its the psychologist in me). This book was excellent, and gave a realistic & interesting perspective of what its really like to serve there as well as how the military system functions. I highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book. It is an accurate portrayal of the job our soldiers perform in the Global War on Terror. It offers a look inside the life of the men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. My son is listed as a reference in this book. The authors were embedded with his unit in Afghanistan.
