The biennial Haiku North America conference celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary with "Fire in the Treetops." This anthology assembles all the haiku and senryu published in previous conference anthologies. An extensive introduction by editor Michael Dylan Welch explores the history and future of the conference, and short essays by thirteen contributors feature poems selected from each conference. Christopher Patchel provides linocut artwork.

I certainly recommend Fire in the Treetops if you are new to haiku and to those who love writing haiku plus haiku poets who have gone to the North America Haiku conferences. For the last 25 years, every two years, poets from around the world meet at Haiku North American events. Among the presenters and attendees are some of the best haiku poets in English, and most, if not all, of the best editors of journals of haiku. MICHAEL DYLAN WELCH is a poet and editor who lives near Seattle, Washington. He has published his poetry, essays, and reviews in hundreds of journals and anthologies, including three Norton poetry anthologies, and his poems have been translated into at least twenty languages. He edited the poetry journals Woodnotes and Tundra, and he also runs a small press, called Press Here (since 1989). From



Great collection of haiku from participants in Haiku North America conferences. I particularly liked that each conferences had one selected poem and associated essay on my the reader like it.
