Tituba
At the center of the storm stood Tituba, a West Indian slave who was among the first accused. This is the story of her struggle and the profound questions she confronted: Was her folk wisdom really witchcraft? Would she have to offer a false confession to save her life? And where, amid so much anger and turmoil, could she turn for hope and strength?
In the words of my goodreads buddy E.M. ~ this is fine.In the words of Powerman 5000 ~ this is what it's like when worlds collide.
This book is based off of a character in the Salem Witch Trials. It is a good way to integrate literature and history. The main character, Tituba, is faced with trials and tribulations because she is accused of being a witch, but she does not believe her cultural beliefs were witch craft! It touches on abstract concepts like faith, honesty, and different beliefs.
